Our History
LAFAYETTE COMPOSITE SQUADRON
The Lafayette Composite Squadron, Red Wolves, is one of 15 Squadrons assigned to the Louisiana Wing. Located in Lafayette, Louisiana, the squadrons’ mission is to provide a well-trained volunteer force to support Search and Rescue, Disaster Relief, Counterdrug and Homeland Security operations in the Acadiana Area and the State of Louisiana.
Formed in July 1957 as the Lafayette Squadron (Senior) at the Louisiana Wing Headquarters in New Orleans, the squadron quickly set up operations in Lafayette, Louisiana. In 1958 the Lafayette Squadron received its charter for Cadets, and began training local youth in Leadership, Aerospace, Moral Leadership and Physical Fitness as part of Civil Air Patrols Cadet Programs Mission.
